Clemmie Howell Wade Gainey, 98, was born September 7, 1925 to the late Larry and Willie Ward Howell. Clemmie was preceded in death by a brother and 5 sisters, her husband of 40 years, Cecil E. Wade, and her second husband, Perry Gainey. She was also preceded in death by a son, Prentice Anderson Wade of Kinston and a daughter, Sheila Wade Bonds, of Princeton.

She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth (Odell) McNeill, of Lillington, 2 sons, Richard (Deborah) Wade and Raymond (Sonoko) Wade, both of Kinston. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Joseph (Lisa) McNeill and Cecil (Laura) McNeill, both of Lillington; Letitia (Scott) Webb of Bunnlevel; Christy Wade and Melissa Wade (Kevin) both of Kinston; Raymond Wade and Sherry Bryant both of La Grange; Staci (Jason) Clark of Lillington. She also has 22 great-children and 4 great-great-children. In addition she is survived by her special friend, Mr. Willie Matthews of Erwin.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Cecil E. McNeill and Rev. James Webb. The family will receive friends in the hour prior to service. Committal will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
