Edna Joyce Adams Rice, at the age of 92, passed away on Valentine’s Day in the early evening, while being cared for at Wayne UNC Hospital.

Mrs. Rice was a native of the Seven Springs area, but for a time, she and her husband resided in Goldsboro before returning to the Seven Springs area.  She had assisted her aunt and uncle in the operation of Rudolph Adams Store in downtown Seven Springs and later became the postmistress with the United States Postal Service at the Seven Springs Post Office, from which she eventually retired.  She worshiped with the congregation at Zion Methodist Church in the Pricetown community.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Joy R. and Donald “Bo” Britt of Seven Springs; three grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer Hughes Edmisten and Michael Edmisten of Bahama, Gina Hughes Neidecker and John Neidecker of Raleigh, and Jason Britt and Mary Michael Britt of Benson; six great-grandchildren, Addison, Edmisten, Gunnar Edmisten, Jack Neidecker, Laney Britt, Cooper Britt, and Maesa Britt; and a brother. Dr. W. C. Adams of Benson.

She joins in death, her husband, Arthur “Jim” Rice; her parents, Grover A. Adams and Edna Mildred Barwick Adams; a sister, Wilma Lois A. Bishop; and a sister-in-law, Korney Waller Adams.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 18, at 2 p.m. from Zion Methodist Church, and will be officiated by Pastor Doug Johnson, followed by burial in Pineview Cemetery. 

Friends and family will be received at the home of Joy and Bo Britt.
