Faye Barnes Bailey

Faye Barnes Bailey

February 7, 2024, 90, Goldsboro —

Faye Barnes Bailey was welcomed in her eternal home on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, while surrounded by her family. She was born in Wilson County, North Carolina, one of seven children, to the late Richard and Lottie Barnes on June 19, 1933. In addition to her parents and siblings, Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Durwood Belmon Bailey, Sr., and son, Belmon Bailey, Jr.

Faye was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and follower of Jesus Christ. She loved her family with all she was and all she had. She would do anything she could to make sure her family was cared for. One of her most beautiful attributes was that her love extended way beyond her family. Faye had a love and a joy that was felt by all she met.  Her passion was caring for others and she was able to do this by caring for children in her home for many years. Children were a treasure to her and she treated them all as the treasures they were.

Faye found enjoyment in creating with her hands through crocheting. It was something she could do to share with others.

God was always first in Faye’s life. She worshiped Him and served as an active member of Pinkney Missionary Baptist Church. Faye always enjoyed the opportunity to teach Sunday school and work in the church nursery. She believed followers enter the church to worship, but leave to serve those around. For many years, she would distribute plastic canvas crosses as a ministry to spread God’s love. Many carried crosses through her dedication to Jesus Christ.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2024, at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Faye is survived by her son, Joseph Bailey, Sr. and wife, Kay of Goldsboro; daughter-in-law, Vickie C. Bailey of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Chris Bailey and wife, Sandy, Crystal Langdon, Joseph Bailey, Jr. and wife, Wendy, and Jeff Bailey and wife, Brandie; and great-grandchildren, McKenna Bailey, Allecia Langdon, Grace Bailey, Lily Bailey and Sam Bailey.
