Phyllis Durham Anderson passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023, at UNC Wayne Hospital. Born March 15, 1950, in Raleigh NC, she was the daughter of the late Richard Worth Durham and Ethelene Davis Durham.

In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Lyda Smith Davis.

Phyllis had a love and a strong connection with people. If she ever made a connection with a person, it was a lasting one. Friends of her sons became her forever children and her friends became family.

She had several amazing talents that will remain in the hearts of her loved ones. Phyllis loved to bake and would often bake cakes for different events including family and friends’ birthdays. Her beautiful calligraphy was sought after for special invitations and her poetry would make one’s heart smile.

The most important thing to Phyllis was her faith in God and her love for her family. She was a member of Pathway Baptist Church and loved to listen to hymns. Her family held the keys to her heart. There was nothing that she would not do for her family. She earned the title “Best Mom Ever” from her loving sons and her bonus children.

Her memory will forever linger in the hearts of her sons, Philip Anderson (wife, Tiffany) and Richard Anderson (fiancé, Alanna Tyndall); granddaughter, Eliana Anderson; siblings, Richard Durham (wife, Susan), Terry Durham (wife, Cathy), Joseph Durham (wife, Debbie), and Angela Johnson (husband, Terry); and bonus son, John Turner (wife, Heather).

A celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
