Danny Eugene Sellers, 72, was granted eternal rest at his home on Monday, June 19, 2023, surrounded by his family. Born and raised in King’s Mountain, North Carolina, he was the son of the late William Eugene Sellers and Ethel Marie Earney Sellers.
Danny was a graduate of King’s Mountain High School. Upon graduation, he attended United Electronics Institute in Louisville, Kentucky. He then faithfully served in the United States Air Force. After being honorably discharged, Danny began Civil Service as an electronics technician.
Danny was a member of First Baptist Church in Goldsboro. He served in numerous roles such as deacon, Sunday school teacher, and Royal Ambassador’s instructor, and played his string bass in the early worship service. Music was very instrumental in Danny’s life. He was a talented string bass, electric bass, and tuba player. He spent time at Wayne Community College as a music instructor, teaching others how to play the string bass. For many years, Danny played in the Starlight Dance Band. Danny’s musical talents were also utilized by Stage Struck at the Paramount Theatre, Center Stage, and numerous events in the area.
A memorial service with military honors to celebrate Danny’s life will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Pastor Glenn Phillips and Pastor Scott Thrailkill presiding. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall one hour prior to the service, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Services will conclude at the church columbarium.
Danny is survived by his loving wife, Linda Wells Sellers; sons, Jason Sellers, and wife, Kristie, and Ethan Sellers; grandchildren, Dylan Sellers, Tyson King, Trent King, and Lyric Sellers; sister, Sandra Sellers Adams and husband, LeRoy; and nephew, Josh Sellers.
In addition to his parents, Danny is preceded in death by his brother, Douglas Sellers.
