Ingeborg Elli Lockamy

January 13, 2023, 87, Goldsboro –

Ingeborg Elli Lockamy was born on April 10th, 1935, in Coburg, Bavaria, Germany to the late Ewald and Erna Sohnlein. As a young child, who survived living through WWII, Inge continued to learn and work hard until she moved to the United States in 1953 with her first husband Thomas J. Clark. They went on to have 3 children- Frances, Michael, and Ronnie. In the years to follow, she would lose both her husband and middle son, Michael, who often she thought fondly and remembered, as her angel.

In 1962, Ingeborg would meet the true love of her life, Archie Lockamy Jr. who was stationed in Germany. Both Inge and Archie would go on to share an incredible love story, that not only lasted the test of time but distance- early on separated by continents. Finally, together, on August 1st, 1964, they married and established their home in Neptune, NJ, where they began to merge their families and grow their great love, eventually moving to Orlando, Florida, and finally settling in Goldsboro, NC where they would go on to celebrate 56 years of marriage.

Through the years, Mrs. Inge Lockamy truly loved her family, both near and far, and developed a love of keeping a beautiful, pristine home. Often, she would be seen decorating, gardening, cooking, sewing, working on embroidery, crocheting, and caring for her beloved dachshunds. In her later years, she loved to serve and have fellowship with her family, friends, and church at Fellowship Baptist Church. At Christmas time, nothing brought her more joy, than to dress up, open the family home and celebrate Christmas with her husband, family, and friends, spreading much joy and happiness to so many.

Ingeborg Lockamy was predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Archie Lockamy Jr., daughter Frances Walling (Clark), son Michael Clark, and her precious companion Toby. She is survived by her son, Ronnie Clark of Howell, NJ; daughter, Lavina Lockamy of Modesto, California; four grandchildren, Tysha Lockamy, Tyshel Lockamy Taylor, Jaime Clark, and Lisa Clark; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, especially Mian Howell, a loving friend to Ingeborg Lockamy, until the very end.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, January 19, 2023, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 until 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
