Linwood Ralph Benton

December 4, 2022, 74, Princeton –

Linwood Ralph Benton, 74, of Princeton passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.  He was born on June 4, 1948, to the late Joe Luby Benton, Jr. and Dora Lee Goodson Benton.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Faye Young Benton; sisters, Adell Jones, and JoAnn Barfield; brothers-in-law, Bill Lynch, James Thornton, and Randall Barfield.

Ralph (Linwood) was the owner of Princeton Electric Company. The towns of Princeton and Pine Level were the primary benefactors of his skills and knowledge for over 40 years. He also generously shared his electrical expertise with his loved ones and his professional advice will be greatly missed. Linwood enjoyed racing motorcycles, going to racing events, and playing golf with family and friends. The highlight of his year was the annual poker game at the Benton family barbecue and reunion held at his brother Tommy’s house. He loved his family very much and greatly missed his late wife Faye. His daily routine included having coffee at her grave every morning he was able. Linwood received Jesus Christ as his Savior and we know he is rejoicing in heaven with her by his side.

He is survived by his son, Duane Benton (Tina) of Smithfield; daughters, Amy Benton (Leah) of Princeton, Sharma Rains (Tim) of Goldsboro; brothers, Donald Benton of Lillington, and Tommy Benton of Clayton; sisters, Georgia Thornton of Goldsboro, Bertha Lynch of Cibolo, Texas, Betty Ross (George) of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren, Elaine Howell, Keaton Helms, Wil Helms, Nicole McGill, and Nicholas Gladden; great grandchildren, Ethan, Sophia and Charlie McGill.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 9, 2022, from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 11:00 am in the chapel of Casey Funeral Home and Cremations with the Reverend Andy Stovall officiating.  The burial will take place immediately after the service in Princeton Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be CJ Benton, Reuben Wood, Keaton Helms, Will Helms, Tim Rains, and Chad Thompson.

Although flowers are welcome, the family suggests contributions to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC  27530.
