Mrs. JoAnn Barfield Buhler, 83, a resident of the Mount Olive area, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 29, 2022, at Duke University Hospital in Durham.

Her family will hold a private service at a later date.

Mrs. Buhler was a native of Orlando, Fla.  While she had been a homemaker for most of her adult life, she had been a school teacher for a brief period of time.

Surviving Mrs. Buhler are three daughters, Laura Kay Buhler of the home, Mount Olive, Kimberly Ann Meerman of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Amy Sizemoore and husband, Trey, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Jay and Cindy Barfield of Orlando, Fla; another sister-in-law, Sherry Fincher; and three nephews.

Among those preceding her in death are her husband, Walter Alan Buhler; a son, Jeffrey Alan Buhler; and her parents, Jessie Cleveland Barfield and Jodie Greenleaf Barfield.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be bestowed upon any hospice organization in one’s given community.
