A large crowd of people started to gather before 4 p.m Saturday in Mount Olive’s Nelson Street Park to receive a free book bag filled with school supplies.
This event began twelve years ago by a group of local men known as the Men of FIC. This
organization of men came up with the idea of giving back to the community by passing out 50 book bags in the first year. And from then the event has grown to over 500 book bags this year.
Saturday afternoon, the Men of FIC along with other local organizations, and churches partnered to put on this event with free food and games for the children with lots of playtime before passing out the
book bags.
The Mount Olive Parks and Recreation had the pickle train in the park that got a lot of attention from the children.
