Update – 3 Deputies Injured in Dudley

9:00 PM Update

First an update on the Deputies who suffered gunshot wounds today.

Sergeant Matthew Fishman, 38, is in critical condition

Deputy Alexander Ramon Torres, 27, is stable

Corporal Andrew Cox, 37, is stable

All three are at ECU Medical Center (Vidant).

Shortly before 8 pm, SWAT team members entered the residence and located the suspect. The suspect, Jourdan Hamilton, 23, of 2592 Arrington Bridge Road, was found inside the home with an apparent fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The NC State Bureau of Investigation is conducting the investigation.

1:25 P.M. Update

Three deputies sustained gunshot wounds in the below incident.

Deputies were serving involuntary commitment paperwork when they were fired upon. One deputy is being treated at Wayne UNC Health Care and two were airlifted to ECU Health Medical Center (Vidant).

There is no update on the conditions of the deputies.

The scene is still active with the suspect still inside the residence.

Previous Story

A Wayne County Deputy has been shot while serving papers in the Dudley area. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has requested assistance from other law enforcement agencies including the NC Highway Patrol.

The Sheriff’s Office has set up a sagging area at the Casa De Adoracion Church. 2329 Arrington Bridge Rd, Dudley, NC 28333.

According to Joel Gillie, Public Information Officer for Wayne County. the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residential address in the 2500 block of Arrington Bridge Road in Dudley at 10:30 am this morning. Three officers were injured during the initial response. The scene is still active at this time and further details will be released when they are available.
