United Way of Wayne County To Host Volunteer Fair & Campaign Kick-off

The United Way of Wayne County (UWWC) will hold a Volunteer Fair on August 31st at The Maxwell Center from 11:00 am-1:00 pm. Mimicking a job fair, and designed for volunteers and volunteer opportunities, local nonprofits will provide information about their organization as well as their volunteer needs. Volunteers and exhibitors attending the event will be eligible to win door prizes.

“The Volunteer Fair is a great opportunity to fulfill our mission of bringing resources and people together to improve our community. By connecting local nonprofits with diverse talents and skills, we hope to provide another layer of support to their cause”, said Sherry Archibald, United Way of Wayne County Executive Director.

Wayne County is home to several nonprofits that provide services to citizens, providing them with essential resources for success.  Attendees can learn about volunteer opportunities to match their time, personalities, and interests.  This year’s Volunteer Fair is funded by a grant from Americorps Volunteer Generation Fund through Volunteer NC in the office of Governor Roy Cooper.  Nonprofits wishing to have a booth at the fair can register by calling the United Way at 919-735-3591 or emailing [email protected] no later than August 12th.

In addition to the Volunteer Fair, the United Way of Wayne County will kick off its campaign season at 11 am. The goal this year is to raise $850,000. Funds raised will support 20 programs provided by 14 local non-profits that focus on education, health and wellness, basic needs, and financial stability. These programs benefit the citizens of Wayne County. Businesses or organizations interested in partnering with United Way of Wayne County may contact Savanna Lambert by emailing [email protected].
