Goldsboro Police Department’s “C” Shift responded to the area of US 70 West near the William Street exit ramp on May 19, 2022, at approximately 11:10 p.m. in reference to a person that had been struck by a motor vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers located an unknown black male victim. Medical personnel pronounced the male victim deceased on scene. “C” Shift Traffic Enforcement Officers handled the investigation.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the victim left the scene, but was later located and identified. Little-Arthur Junior Chambers, 39, of Sherard Court, Goldsboro, was arrested and charged in the death of the unknown deceased person. Chambers was taken before the magistrate, who ordered a $1,500 secured bond as the condition of release. His first appearance was scheduled for May 20.

The identity of the victim has not been determined at this time. Goldsboro Police Department officials are still attempting to determine the identity of the deceased so that next of kin notifications can be made.
