Elvira Gambella “Vera” Turnage

Elvira Gambella “Vera” Turnage, 69, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. Born in Brooklyn, New York on July 7, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Ulysses and Catherine D’Anna Gambella.

In addition to her parents, Vera was preceded in death by her sister, RoseAnn Russo and husband, Mike.

Vera is survived by her husband of 50 years, Giles Turnage; daughters, Catherine Frances Turnage Barratt and husband, Mark and Michelle Leigh Turnage Huffman and husband, Chris; grandchildren, Addison Grace Barratt, Ryder Giles Barratt, Brookly Ann Huffman, and Riley Marie Huffman; brother, Nicholas Gambella and wife, Maria; sister, Diane Lockwood and husband, Dan; and several nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.

Vera will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, mamama, sister, and friend. Family was paramount to Vera and nothing was more important than the care and wellbeing of her loved ones.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church with Father Roch T. Drozdzik officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Princeton. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Seymour Funeral Home.
