The U.S. 117 bridge near its junction with U.S. 264 in Wilson County is scheduled to close at 7 a.m. May 2, 2022 for construction of a new bridge.  The pre-World War II bridge that carries U.S. 117 over a CSX Corporation railroad track on the outskirts of Wilson will be demolished.

The detour will send drivers onto Frank Price Church Road, Old Black Creek Road and U.S. 264, returning to US. 117.

The bridge was built in 1922 and upgraded (but not replaced) in 1940. The road is scheduled to reopen in April 2023.
