Governor Lays Out Steps To Safely Gather During The Holidays

(GDN) — Cases of the coronavirus are climbing in North Carolina.

With the holiday gatherings approaching and with the contagious new Omicron variant, new cases of COVID-19 are expected to continue spiking.

Over 10,000 new cases of COVID were confirmed in North Carolina since Friday.

Gov. Roy Cooper shared some important steps to help protect you and your family from the virus this holiday season:

  1. Get a COVID vaccine booster once you’re eligible
  2. Get tested before and after holiday gatherings
  3. Get vaccinated if you haven’t already
  4. Continue wearing a mask when out in public.

Gov. Cooper also reminded it is still possible to catch COVID even if you’ve been vaccinated.

However, vaccinated persons are still much less likely to get severely sick if they are infected.

If you are sick or have symptoms, you’re urged to not host or attend any holiday gatherings.

You can finding testing sites or order COVID-19 home tests online at NCDHHS.gov/gettested.
