(GDN) — Late Friday, multiple engines companies from the Goldsboro Fire Department and Wayne County EMS Station 4 were dispatched to a working structure fire on the south end of Slaughter Street. As fire engines approached the area, smoke and flames could be seen coming from an old abandoned single story brick structure. Firefighters quickly dropped several attack lines on the ground and managed to keep the flames from spreading to a nearby structure as they brought the blaze under control in a short period of time. There wasn’t any power going to the structure and the meter had been pulled from the building. According to the fire ground commander, the cause of the blaze is under an investigation by the GFD and Goldsboro Police Department.
