Girls Basketball: C.B. Aycock Picks Up First Win Against Goldsboro (PHOTO GALLERY)

Down 21-16 at halftime, C.B. Aycock stormed back and went on to defeat Goldsboro 46-38 on Tuesday evening.

The Cougars held a 9-3 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Golden Falcons outscored the Cougars 13-12 in the second quarter, but Cougars still led 21-16.

In the third quarter, C.B. Aycock used a 17-6 run, which was capped off by Destiny Mason’s two-pointer, to take a 33-27 lead going into the fourth quarter.

At the start of the fourth quarter, Presley Gray hit two of her four three-pointers to give the Golden Falcons a 39-27 lead. The Cougars attempted to come back, and a layup from Nashiyah Williams cut C.B. Aycock’s lead down to 41-35.

However, with 1:30 left in the game, another three-pointer from Gray pushed C.B. Aycock ahead 44-35, and Golden Falcons held off the Cougars to get the win.

Mason finished the game with 19 points, Gray scored 12 points, while Laci Best contributed 13 points. For Goldsboro, Williams and Kaila Bell ended up with 12 points apiece, and Precious Willams scored 11 points.

C.B. Aycock hosts Rosewood on Tuesday, while Goldsboro travels to Southern Wayne on Monday.
