Hosokawa Announces New Facility, $6.5 Million Investment In Wayne County

(GDN) — New jobs are coming as a contract chemical processor plans its move to Wayne County.

Hosokawa Custom Processing Services announced on Wednesday it would create 16 new jobs as part of its $6.5 million investment to relocate a processing center to Goldsboro.

Kenny Flowers, Assistant Secretary of Rural Economic Development for the N.C. Department of Commerce, says Wayne County is in the heart of the East Coast and is a prime location for growing manufacturers to expand their operations.

Rob Voorhees, President of Hosokawa, says they looked at several states, but North Carolina came through with incentives for the project.

Voorhees says their site in Goldsboro is “beautiful,” and offers plenty of room for expansion.

Hosokawa’s facility will be located at the ParkEast Industrial Park.

Although wages will vary, the average annual salary for all new positions is $50,994, creating a potential payroll impact of more than $815,900 per year.

A performance-based grant of $50,000 from the One North Carolina Fund will help with Hosokawa’s location to North Carolina.

Hosokawa Custom Processing Services LLC, is the custom processing division of Hosokawa Micron Corporation, a leader in process solutions for powder and particle technology. The custom processing business processes powders to be used primarily by the chemical, mineral, and plastic industries. The new location in Goldsboro will be the new home of the business currently located in New Jersey.
