Women’s Soccer: Six UMO Players Named To All-Conference Team

Greenville, S.C. — The Conference Carolinas announced the 2021 Women’s Soccer All-Conference teams with six Trojans grabbing honors for the University of Mount Olive. Shaunalee Govia was also named the Defensive Player of the Year for the third year in a row.

Govia joined 11 other members on the all-conference first-team. The senior collected her third consecutive Defensive Player of the Year honor (2019, Spring 2021, Fall 2021).

The leader on the backline for the Trojans, Govia led a defense that allowed nine goals in 16 games, a .56 average per contest. In addition, she finished second in the conference with seven assists on the season.

Govia is the first since the implementation of the award in 2012 to win the honor more than once. 

Jasmine PinterAshley Lindsay, and Shaunalee Govia earned first-team honors; Jaslyn Gott was named second-team, and Nya Baccelli and Amanda McLeod earned third-team honors.

Pinter was second on the team in goals with seven earning her first all-conference honor. She also added three assists to her tally contributing four game-winners. Lindsay scored twice for UMO in the midfield also adding one assist for the season. 

Gott replicated her teammate Lindsay scoring twice with one assist.

Baccelli in her freshman campaign led the Trojans with eight goals including three assists. She also moved into second-place all-time for goals in a game with four scores against Francis Marion. McLeod in her 2021 fall season scored one with two assists.
