Kenneth Earl Grady, Sr.

Kenneth Earl Grady, Sr., 73, lost his battle with cancer on Friday, October 15, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his family. Born in Wayne County on October 1, 1948, he was the son of the late Granger Grady and Mildred Head Grady.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Teresa Downey of Durham; daughters, Tiffany Grady (Ian) of Goldsboro and Kelly Leigh Henry and husband, Jim of Aiken, SC; son, Ken Grady, Jr., and wife, Aimee of TN; sisters, Donna G. Thomas and husband, Charlie of Grantham, Lori Grady of Grantham, and Sandra Ryan of Rosewood; brother, Glenn Grady of Grantham; and grandchildren, Caroline, Hannah, Jackson, and Tyler. Kenneth is also survived by two special friends, Billy Goff and Carroll McCullen.

Kenneth proudly served his country in the United States Army, serving in the 1st Calvary Division of the Vietnam War as a Combat Infantryman. He had worked as a long-haul truck driver for over 40 years, eventually becoming a logistics manager in the trucking industry, trucking was his life’s passion. Kenneth was a member of the Vietnam veterans of America, the American Legion, and the Goldsboro Elks Lodge, No. 139. Also, Kenneth was an active member of Lowe’s Grove Baptist Church in Durham and volunteered for the American Red Cross.

A service to celebrate Kenneth’s life will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 21, 2021 in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Rev. Woody Freeze officiating. Interment with military honors will conclude the services at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Seymour Funeral Home.
