Excessive Heat Hampers Firefighters At Vine St. Blaze

It was a hot day Saturday morning for Goldsboro firefighters B-shift when all five stations were dispatched to the scene of a two story family dwelling on East Vine Street located between North John Street and William Street. The nine people that were living in the two story house managed to get out safely before firefighters arrived on the scene. Smoke was showing in front of the two story structure as firefighters arrived on the scene.

With engines on the scene and supply lines laid from the corner of William Street, Goldsboro Police had to block a section of William Street to all traffic while firefighters had to deal with two sources of heat… one being the heat of the day and the other was the heat from the fire.

Fireground Operation Chief requested that mutual aid from outside departments be brought in to assist with the fire fighting operation with some of them being put on standby at stations throughout the city.

Fire Departments that responded to assist were Mar-Mac, El-Roy, Belfast, Arrington, Rosewood and Seymour Johnson Fire Department. Wayne County EMS were on the scene to assist the firefighters with the excess heat. Belfast set a cooling station on the scene to assist firefighters battling the blaze.
