Crews Search For Father & Son In The Neuse River

Wayne County 911 received a call Wednesday evening at about 8 PM for a water rescue at the Goldsboro Boating Access Area on the 2000 block of US-117 in Goldsboro. Arr-Mac Water Response, Goldsboro Water Rescue, Wayne County Sheriff’s Dive Team, Wayne County Sheriff’s Aviation Unit, and Wayne County EMS responded to the scene.

Two individuals, a father and son, were on the dock fishing when the child fell into the river. The father jumped in the water and attempted to save the child but both went missing. A witness on the bank of the river called 911 and a boater in the river attempted to help save the two but was unsuccessful.

After arriving, crews began searching the river by boat and also by helicopter.  The individuals had not been located as of 2:30 Thursday morning. The search was suspended for the night and will resume in the morning.
