Drive Thru Operation Medicine Drop Set For Wednesday

Drive Thru Operation Medicine Drop Set For Wednesday

Clean out those medicine cabinets this week.

Once again, the Goldsboro Police Department and Safe Kids Wayne County are partnering for Operation Medicine Drop.

Shelly Willis, Safe Kids Coordinator for the Partnership for Children of Wayne County, says last year’s medication take back events had to be cancelled due to the pandemic.

Willis says this year’s drive thru Operation Medicine Drop will adhere to social distancing guidelines.

Medications should be kept in their original containers for disposal.

Willis says unused and expired medications threaten to contaminate the water supply or fall into the wrong hands.

She also notes that all meds in the home should be kept out of reach of children.

Volunteers from Wayne Community College and Wayne UNC Health Care will assist with this year’s drug drop-off event.

Operation Medicine Drop is being held in drive-thru format this Wednesday, March 24th from 10 AM until 2 PM at the Peggy M. Seegars Senior Center, 2001 E. Ash Street in Goldsboro.
