The City of Goldsboro accepts a new grant to assist its firefighters.
Tuesday evening, the Goldsboro City Council approved the nearly $7,700 grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.
That grant is being used to purchase a gear dryer for personal protective equipment at the Goldsboro Fire Department.
As explained at yesterday’s meeting, the dryer will help to quickly remove harmful particulates from the gear.
Instances of firefighter cancer have been directly linked to exposure through improper PPE care.
