December 26, 2020, 89, Calypso
Ruby Kennedy Parker, 89, of Calypso, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 26, 2020, at home, surrounded by her family and pastor.
Her life will be remembered in a service to be at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Calypso Baptist Church where she was a faithful member, officiated by Dr. Greg Day, followed by burial in the Calypso Cemetery. In lieu of an indoor visitation period, the family will remain at the cemetery immediately following the graveside service, to receive friends in a safer environment for all.
While Mrs. Parker had held jobs outside the home in her earlier years, her primary focus had been providing a loving home for her family.
She is survived by her children, Sharon Parker Waicus and husband, Jim, of Angier, Jeff Parker of Calypso, and Melanie Parker Taylor and husband, Randy, of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren, Stephanie Waicus, Jaime Melito and husband, Mark, Jeff Parker, Jr., Ryan and Rylie Taylor; two great-grandchildren, Axeley and Nicholas Melito; and a sister, Virginia K. Herring of Clinton.
Loved ones who preceded her in death include her husband of 69 years, James Arthur Parker; her parents, William H. Kennedy and Dollie Byrd Kennedy; and several of her siblings.
Flowers are welcome, but for those who wish to remember Mrs. Parker with memorial gifts, the family suggests Calypso Baptist Church, PO Box 248, Calypso NC 28325 (in care of Ella Radcliff).
