Harold Gregory Mercer, 68, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, December 31, 2020, surrounded by his family.

Harold was born in Wilson County on November 6, 1952 to the late Henry Norwood Mercer and Ruth Bogue Mercer. He had been a valued employee of the family businesses, Mercer and Son Construction and Legacy Farms. Harold was devoted to his family and his church, Fremont Free Will Baptist Church.

A private graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont. The family respectfully requests for those attending the service to wear a face covering and practice social distancing measures.

Harold is survived by his brother, David Mercer and wife Margaret sister, Deborah Ballance and husband Todd; nieces, Kathy Brinn and husband John, Lea Ann Zorbaugh and husband David, Lindsay Collins and husband Daniel, Brittany Schroeder and husband Bobby, and Katlyn Schmidt and husband Eric; nephew, Landry Ballance; and several great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Harold’s memory to Fremont F.W.B. Church, 106 W. South Street, Fremont, NC 27830.
