The small staff of volunteers from the Community Soup Kitchen in Goldsboro started their preparations several days before this year’s Thanksgiving dinner. With the dining area closed, no one was able to come and sit down and enjoy the old fashioned dinner and fellowship with their friends and staff like normal. Keeping with the COVID-19 restrictions, the public was not allowed inside of the building, so the staff of nine volunteers in their masks and gloves managed to fix over 200 Thanksgiving dinners for the people that were standing in line outside. This marks the Community Soup Kitchen’s 40th anniversary sinse the first day was in 1980. They’ve served over 10,000 more meals just this year.
