County Matches State’s High Voter Turnout

Over 55,000 Wayne County residents cast a ballot in this week’s election.

According to figures from the N.C. State Board of Elections, 55,263 ballots have been cast in Wayne County for the November 3rd Presidential Election.

That represents 72.53% of the county’s eligible voters.  Keep in mind, the county board of election offices across the state are still accepting absentee by-mail ballots through November 12th provided they were postmarked by November 3rd, Election Day.

That means the county’s participation rate may edge higher before the results become official.

In the presidential contest in Wayne County, Republican Donald Trump received 30,505 votes while 23,986 ballots were cast for Democrat Joe Biden.
