Tuesday afternoon, firefighters from Mount Olive, Calypso, Smith Chapel and Dudley were dispatched to the scene of a working structure fire on the 100 block of Cleveland Street just off of Highway 117 Alt. south of Mount Olive. The call was reported by Mount Olive Police that were in the area on patrol. By the time firefighters arrived on the scene, flames could be seen coming from one of the windows on the back side of the mobile home. The firefighters managed to enter the structure, locate the source of the fire and quickly bring it under control. Mount Olive Police, Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies, and Wayne County EMS were also on the scene to assist. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the fire officials and law enforcement. Firefighters remained on the scene for almost two hours.
