Wayne County’s COVID-19 Cases Surpass 1,000

Wayne County has recorded over 1,000 cases of coronavirus.  As of Tuesday morning’s update from Wayne County Government, there have been 1,028 total positive cases of COVID-19 in Wayne County.  469 of those cases came from the Neuse Correctional Institution and 69 cases were attributed to other congregate care living facilities.  There have been 18 coronavirus-related deaths in Wayne County.  It’s estimated 672 persons infected with COVID-19 have already recovered, leaving an estimated 338 active cases in the county.

According to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, there have been 24,140 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of Tuesday.  766 of those cases have resulted in death.
