Janice Teachey Boykin, 82, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2020 at her home.

A native of Wayne County, Janice was born on June 8, 1937 in Goldsboro to the late Paul and Ola Sewell Teachey. She was an active member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School Class. Janice also served with the Salvation Army for many years.

Janice loved traveling and had traveled to all fifty states and many countries with her late husband, Dr. Thomas Boykin, as well as other family and friends. After her first mission trip, she returned many times to Venezuela, Mexico and Honduras to volunteer on various projects.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 29, 2020 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. in the narthex of Madison Avenue Baptist Church followed by a service to celebrate Janice’s life at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary with Pastor Adam Street officiating. Interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

Janice is survived by her daughter, Shawn Boykin Moncure and son-in-law, Richard; her son, Cord Steeves Boykin and daughter-in-law, Stella; special friend, Aaron R. Williford; grandchildren, Bram Clayton Moncure and Korie Bailey Boykin; a brother, Ronnie K. Teachey and wife Linda; step-granddaughters, Mallory Maden and Mary Ashley Maden; niece, Terry Carter; nephews, Paul Teachey and Robert Hebert; one great niece and two great nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carol T. Hebert.
