July 9, 2026, 84, Goldsboro – JoAnn Marriner, 84, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. Born on January 28, 1942, in Chesapeake, Virginia, she was daughter to the late Woodrow Eason and Ann Brown Eason.
JoAnn embraced life with a joyful spirit and made the most of every moment. At just 17 years old, she married the love of her life, Brooks, beginning a beautiful journey that would span a lifetime. Together they built not only a home, but a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. They spent almost 50 wonderful years in the home they built together at Sleepy Creek, where they welcomed family and friends and created countless treasured memories.
JoAnn is survived by her sons, Charles Brooks Marriner, Jr. and wife, Cristal, Steven Alan Marriner and wife, Matilda, and Ashley Brent Marriner and wife, Jannah; her grandchildren, Brandy Marriner, Mason Marriner and wife, Taylor, Brett Marriner and wife, Jennifer, Ashley Marriner, Rylee Ward and husband, Chase, Amelia Weeks and husband, Tyler, Marshall Pate and Parker Marriner; her great-grandchildren, Bo, Elliot, Maeve and Mac; her loving sister, Sheila Davis and husband, Billy; her special niece, Kara McGee and husband, Marshall; her special nephews, Ronan and Beck; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Brooks Marriner, Sr.; her brothers, Jimmie Eason, Norwood Eason, and Durwood Eason; and her grandson, Christopher Brooks Marriner.
A graveside service to honor JoAnn’s life will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Princeton. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
