Eleanor Ann McCullen Phillips was received into the loving arms of Jesus on Monday, May 11, 2020. She was born in Wayne County on November 2, 1935 to the late John McCullen and Florence Ward McCullen. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 65 years, Wheeler Phillips.
Eleanor had a deep and passionate love for her children and family. Her grandchildren were the apples of her eye. She was kindhearted and gentle. Eleanor always put others before herself and gave to a fault.
A woman of great faith, Eleanor believed in the power of prayer. She devoutly prayed for her children and family every day. She would quote scripture and sing hymns as she went about her daily work. Eleanor’s family finds comfort in knowing that she was ready to meet her Savior.
A graveside service to celebrate and remember Eleanor’s life will be held Friday, May 15, 2020, at 10 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Eleanor is survived by her children, Daniel Phillips and Myra Jones (Ervin); two grandchildren, Jenna Jones and Tyler Jones, and one great-granddaughter, Olivia Jones.
