Mr. Chester Lee Wooten, 79, formerly of Wayne County, NC passed on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Wayne UNC Health Care, Goldsboro, NC. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the celebration of his life will be private for immediate family and close friends only.

Chester Lee Wooten was born on November 14, 1940 in Wayne County, North Carolina to the late Cornelius and Priscilla Horner Wooten. He departed this life on May 5, 2020 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro, North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Sadie Bell Wooten, Julia Wooten Hines, and Nancy Wooten Ward; three brothers, Julius Wooten, Walter Lee Wooten, and Cornelius Wooten, Jr.

Chester received his education from Central High School in Wayne County, North Carolina. He spent almost every healthy day of his life on the land, farming and tending to the yard until his health declined.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his sister, Priscilla Freeman (Kenneth) of Knoxville, TN; two sister-in-laws, Delsorie Wooten of Goldsboro, NC and Betsey Wooten of Spring Lake, NC; one brother-in-law, James Ward of Goldsboro, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
