LISTEN: Goldsboro YMCA Stays Engaged With Community

The Goldsboro Family YMCA had to close its doors on March 18th due to the coronavirus pandemic.

However, the local Y is still making an impact in the community.

Bruce Griffin, the CEO of the Goldsboro Family YMCA, appeared on Jeff Farrow’s Morning Show on Goldsboro’s Greatest Hits 1150 and 98.3.

He says the Y answered an appeal from the United Way to help deliver school meals to Wayne County students during the COVID-19 crisis.

Griffin says the Goldsboro Family YMCA is serving as one of the “Park & Learn” remote learning sites for WCPS students.

The local Y is also keeping in phone contact with its senior members so they don’t become socially isolated during the time of social distancing.

Griffin says the majority of Y members have kept up with their monthly dues even during this time, and that’s helped the Y continue its work in the community.
