There are still a few more days to apply for the open seat on the Wayne County Board.
This week, the Wayne County Board of Commissioners voted to extend the deadline to apply for the vacant District 3 seat until April 14th.
At Tuesday’s meeting, Commissioner Joe Daughtery said the application deadline was the only part of the appointment process that was being changed.
Applicants will still be interviewed on April 21st, and the replacement will be selected on April 28th.
Daughtery said the extension was needed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The District 3 seat is vacant due to the unexpected death of Commissioner John M. Bell, who had served as the District 3 representative since 2000.
