October 6, 2026, 64, Newton Grove – Nelson Wayne McLamb, 64, of Newton Grove, passed away at his home on October 6, 2026. Born in Johnston County on February 17, 1962, he was the son of the late Roy Nelson McLamb and Janice Fay McLamb.
Wayne worked as a self-employed concrete contractor, but his life was defined by far more than his work. He was a kindhearted man who readily helped anyone in need. Whether you were a lifelong friend or a stranger, Wayne was willing to lend a hand. His generosity and genuine concern for others left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
He enjoyed fishing, especially surf fishing at the beach, and the freedom of riding his motorcycles. He loved a good conversation, enjoyed cooking and sharing a good meal, and found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. Wayne was an all-around good person whose company made others feel welcome.
Above all, Wayne loved his family. His daughter, Raven, and his granddaughters held a special place in his heart. His love will remain with them through the memories they shared and the stories they will carry forward.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Marcia Darden McLamb of Newton Grove; his daughter, Raven McLamb, and her fiancé, Damian Hardy, of Raleigh; two granddaughters, Eva Hardy and Layla Hardy, whose arrival on October 7 brought a new life into the family during this time of loss; two sisters, Janet McLamb of Newton Grove and Sharon Sutton and her husband, Timmy, of Clinton; and his beloved fur baby, Boo Boo. Numerous close friends and extended family members also survive.
A service to celebrate Wayne’s life will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, October 12, 2026 at Manley Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church, Pastor Donald Massey officiating. Burial will follow at the family home on Goldsboro Highway in Newton Grove. The family will greet friends and family at the church from 1:00-1:45 on Monday.
Wayne will be lovingly remembered for his giving heart, his love for his family, and his willingness to be there when someone needed him.
Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and Crematory is honored to serve the McLamb family.
