September 25, 2026, 77, Mount Olive – On September 25th 2026, Christine Anne (Petely) Niessner, 77, passed away peacefully at UNC Health Wayne in Goldsboro, North Carolina.
Born in New Jersey to the late Victor J. and Catherine R. Petely. She was a lifelong resident of New Jersey before moving to Mount Olive, North Carolina. Chris was the loving wife to the late Norman G. Niessner. She is survived by her large extended family of stepchildren, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and cousins.
Chris loved to dance and travel, she loved boating and fishing (especially with her dad), She had a love of turtles, and the ocean. Her favorite place to visit was Wildwood, New Jersey.
She loved music, especially singing with her family who all harmonized together. In her youth she attended many concerts, especially for her favorite artist Rod Stewart; she was his biggest fan.
Chris loved to cook and her green thumb and love of plants became a lifelong hobby. She loved dogs and became a loving forever home for many ill and elderly dogs who were unwanted or discarded by others. She loved decorating her home for every holiday, but loved Christmas most of all. Chris worked in the banking industry for decades, eventually retiring from Wells Fargo.
She was funny, strong, bold, loyal, loving, and had no filter; she would always tell you straight. She was fiercely independent and always stood up for what’s right. Her nails were always perfectly polished, her jewelry was always on, and her outfits were always color coordinated. However, as many things as she loved, vegetables were not one of them.
Chris had very strong faith and will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to know and love her. She was one of a kind. Love ya, mean it.
