October 5, 2026, 77, – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Norman M. “Buster” Head, a beloved member of the Greene County community, who departed this life on October 5, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on January 15, 1949, Buster was the son of the late Norman “Bye” Head and the late Esther Chase Head.
Buster spent his formative years in Greene County, where he learned the values of kindness, dedication, and community service from his parents. He carried these values with him throughout his life, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. Buster embarked on a career as a teacher in the healthcare industry. His passion helping others was evident in his work, as he inspired countless with his wisdom and compassion. Educated at Herbert W. Armstrong Bible College, he became an ordained minister.
A man of great integrity and commitment, Buster served as the Treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors for Contentnea Health. His dedication to the organization and his community was unwavering, and he was always eager to lend a helping hand.
Buster’s life was enriched by his love for giving back to his community. Whether through his professional work or personal endeavors, he was always seeking ways to make a positive impact on those around him. Especially the elders of the community by helping with their needs or just a friendly visit.
Buster enjoyed pier fishing, traveling, tending to his flowers and gardening. He also especially treasured the time spent with his mother while taking her to visit family & friends, finding joy in their conversations along the way learning the family history and the memories they shared with loved ones. His generous spirit and kind heart will be dearly missed.
Along with his parents, Buster was preceded in death by a son; his brothers, Jimmy Ray Head and Lloyd “Howard” Head; and his special niece, Wanda Kay Smith. He leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor his legacy: brother & best friend George Head of the home, brothers Tommy Head and wife Katie, Donny Head and wife Sheryl, along with sister-in-law Shirley Head, all of Snow Hill. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces & nephews who all adored him.
A service to celebrate Buster’s life will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Snow Hill Cemetery, located at 1112 Kingold Blvd., Snow Hill, NC 28580. Family, friends, and community members are invited to join in remembering and honoring the life of a man who touched so many.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Norman’s memory to the Eastern NC School for the Deaf, 1311 Highway 301 S., Wilson, NC 27893.
