GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Heavy rain and thunderstorms rolled through Wayne County and surrounding areas Friday night, disrupting the high school football schedule as several teams faced weather delays and others were forced to postpone their games until Monday.
Despite the stormy conditions, several local teams managed to complete their matchups, with Eastern Wayne earning a homecoming victory and other Wayne County teams battling tough opponents.
Eastern Wayne celebrated homecoming with a 27-0 shutout victory over North Johnston at Little Big Horn. The Warriors kept the Panthers off the scoreboard to secure the win in front of their home crowd.
Southern Wayne came up short in a hard-fought contest against Southern Nash, falling 21-14 at home.
Princeton found itself in a high-scoring battle against Midway. The Bulldogs put 46 points on the board but were unable to overcome the Raiders, who claimed a 52-46 victory.
Meanwhile, C.B. Aycock struggled against Hunt, falling 37-6 at home.

Goldsboro-Rosewood Rivalry Rescheduled for Monday
One of the area’s anticipated matchups, the county rivalry between the Goldsboro Cougars and Rosewood Eagles, was among the games affected by Friday night’s severe weather.
The game has been rescheduled for Monday, September 21, with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
The Cougars and Eagles will look to settle their rivalry on the field as Wayne County high school football action continues into the new week.
