November 1, 2026, 81, Goldsboro – Phillip Leon Eubanks, 81, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at Willow Creek Nursing Home in Goldsboro. Born in Cardwell, Missouri, on August 18, 1945, Phil was the son of the late Leon and Maxine Eubanks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Baker.
Phil was a man of many talents and interests who lived a life enriched by music, service, and the pursuits that brought him joy. A proud veteran, he served his country in the United States Air Force for four years, carrying with him the values of dedication and commitment.
Music was one of Phil’s greatest gifts and a central part of his life. An accomplished musician, he shared his talents as the organist and pianist at St. Mary Catholic Church for more than 42 years. Through his music, Phil became a familiar and cherished presence in the church, using his remarkable ability to enrich worship and touch the hearts of generations of parishioners. His decades of faithful service reflected not only his musical talent but also his devotion to a ministry that meant so much to him.
Phil also possessed an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for his work. For many years, he owned and operated Awards Gallery in Goldsboro alongside his partner, Scarlett. His professional life was another important chapter in a life filled with varied interests and meaningful connections.
Beyond music and business, Phil had a deep fascination with airplanes and the freedom of flight. He pursued that passion by earning his private pilot license, an accomplishment that reflected his curiosity, determination, and love of aviation. He was also a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge #139 in Goldsboro, where he shared in the fellowship of the organization.
Above all, Phil will be remembered for the life he built with those he loved and the lasting connections he made throughout his years. He leaves behind a legacy shaped by his many talents, his years of service to others, and the passions that made him uniquely Phil. His presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by his music, friendship, and generous sharing of his gifts.
Phil is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Ava Ellen Jackson Eubanks; his sisters, Alice Eubanks Baker and husband, Robert, and Lanora Eubanks Lester and husband, Randy; his brother, Douglas Eubanks and wife, Lisa; and several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
