WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Don Davis (NC-01) is inviting middle and high school students across North Carolina’s First Congressional District to put their technology skills and creativity to the test in the 2026 Congressional App Challenge.
The nationwide competition encourages students to explore coding and computer science by designing and developing their own original apps. The program aims to strengthen interest in STEM — science, technology, engineering and math — while giving young innovators an opportunity to showcase their skills.
“The Congressional App Challenge proudly highlights the remarkable creativity and innovation of North Carolina’s First Congressional District,” Davis said. “Students across eastern North Carolina are gaining the skills and experience needed to lead in an increasingly technology-driven economy. We are excited to see the imaginative projects our bright minds will develop and to celebrate the talent and ingenuity they bring to this competition.”
Middle and high school students who live or attend school in the First Congressional District are encouraged to participate.
The deadline to register and submit an app online is 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, 2026.
The winning entry from North Carolina’s First Congressional District will be recognized on the Congressional App Challenge website. The winner will also be invited to attend #HouseOfCode in Washington, D.C., in spring 2027, where students from across the country have the opportunity to showcase their work.
