GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Goldsboro and Wayne County residents will have an opportunity to meet local candidates and learn more about their positions during a community “Meet the Candidates” Forum on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Epsilon Phi Omega Chapter, is partnering with St. Mark Church of Christ Disciples of Christ and the Goldsboro Wayne Branch NAACP to host the non-partisan event beginning at 6 p.m. at St. Mark Church, 700 W. Ash St. in Goldsboro.
The forum coincides with National Voter Registration Day and is designed to help local residents become more informed before heading to the polls.
Organizers say the event will provide voters with an opportunity to meet candidates face-to-face, hear about their platforms and better understand the choices that will appear on the ballot.
The forum also supports Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s international program initiative, Advocating for Social Justice, which focuses on voter education, public policy awareness and civic engagement.
The Epsilon Phi Omega Chapter notes that voters may not always be familiar with every candidate appearing on their ballot. Through events such as the Meet the Candidates Forum, the organization seeks to encourage informed participation in the electoral process and greater community involvement.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® works through its social justice initiative to inspire informed action and mobilize communities around issues involving civil rights, equity and quality of life.
The Sept. 15 forum is open to members of the Goldsboro and Wayne County community.
