WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — Government offices and several public facilities across Wayne County will close or operate on modified schedules in observance of Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 7.
Wayne County Government offices will be closed Monday and will reopen Tuesday, Sept. 8, for normal business hours.
All branches of the Wayne County Public Library will be closed Saturday, Sept. 5, and Monday, Sept. 7. Library branches will reopen Tuesday.
The Peggy M. Seegars Senior Center will be closed Monday and will resume normal operations Tuesday.
The Wayne County landfill and convenience centers will also be closed Monday. Both will reopen Tuesday for normal business hours.
The Wayne County Animal Shelter will be closed Saturday and Monday. The shelter will reopen Tuesday for normal visiting hours.
City of Goldsboro
City of Goldsboro offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of Labor Day.
Residents who normally have trash collected on Monday should note that those routes will instead be serviced Wednesday, Sept. 9.
Town of Mount Olive
Town of Mount Olive offices will be closed Monday and will reopen Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 8 a.m.
The holiday will also change the town’s household garbage and yard waste collection schedule.
Monday’s route will be collected Tuesday, while Tuesday’s route will be collected Wednesday. Thursday and Friday routes will remain on their regular schedules.
Residents experiencing a water or sewer emergency while town offices are closed should call 919-658-5031 and select Option 0 to be connected with non-emergency dispatch.
Residents throughout Wayne County are encouraged to plan accordingly for the Labor Day closures and schedule changes.
