DUDLEY, N.C. — The Dudley Fire Department has added a brand-new brush truck to its fleet, replacing a vehicle that has served the department for more than two decades.
Members of the department recently received the new Dodge Ram 5500 brush truck, which will replace the department’s 2005 Ford brush truck.
The new apparatus is equipped with a brush skid unit capable of carrying 300 gallons of water. Brush trucks are designed to help firefighters respond to grass, brush and other outdoor fires, including incidents in areas that may be difficult for larger fire apparatus to access.
Following the truck’s arrival, members of the Dudley Fire Department gathered at the station for a training class focused on the proper operation and capabilities of the new vehicle and its equipment.
The training gives firefighters an opportunity to become familiar with the new apparatus before putting it to work during emergency responses.
The addition of the new brush truck provides the Dudley Fire Department with updated equipment to help protect residents and property throughout its service area.
