August 14, 2026, 97, – Roy Stancil Robinson, Sr., 97, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, August 14, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the family he loved so dearly.
Born in Pitt County on November 30, 1928, Roy was the son of the late Roy Preston Robinson and Mamie Grimsley Robinson. He was a man who believed in working hard, loving his family, serving others, and remaining faithful to the Lord throughout every season of his life.
Roy proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, where his bravery and dedication to duty were recognized with the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Following his honorable military service, he began a long and distinguished career with Shepherd Electric Supply Company in Goldsboro, where he faithfully worked for 41 years. His strong work ethic, unwavering dedication, and commitment to doing every job well were a reflection of the character, integrity, and sense of responsibility he carried throughout his life.
Roy’s greatest devotion was to his faith. His relationship with the Lord was the cornerstone of his life and guided him in the way he loved his family, served others, and lived each day. He was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church, where he faithfully served in many capacities throughout the years. His love for his church and his Lord was evident to all who knew him, and his Christian example will continue to live on through the generations of his family.
Roy was also a devoted husband and father. He and his beloved wife, Geraldine, shared 72 years of marriage and created a lifetime of cherished memories together. Outside of work and church, Roy and Geraldine enjoyed traveling with their friends and treasured the fellowship and friendships they made along the way.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Geraldine Hollowell Robinson; his brother, Roland G. Robinson; and his sister, Sarah R. Benton.
Roy leaves behind a beautiful legacy through his children, Stan Robinson, Alan Robinson and wife, Melissa, Karen Carroll and husband, Tim, Dean Robinson and wife, Roxane, and Geri Easom and husband, Marcus; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Though his earthly work is complete, Roy’s faith, love, hard work, and devotion to his family and his Lord will continue to speak through those he leaves behind. He lived a life of purpose and faithfulness, and he can now rest in the promise he trusted throughout his life: that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
The family will receive friends during a time of visitation on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 1715 E. Royall Avenue, Goldsboro. A service to honor Roy’s life will be held at 4:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary, with Pastor Jason Stoeber officiating. Interment will conclude at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Roy’s memory to Grace Baptist Church, 1715 E. Royall Avenue, Goldsboro, NC 27530; Gentiva Hospice, 2815 Carolina Commerce Drive, Goldsboro, NC 27530; or to the Christian Caregivers of Goldsboro, P.O. Box 363, Goldsboro, NC 27533.
