GOLDSBORO, N.C. — The Goldsboro City Council will meet Monday evening with a full agenda that includes several public hearings, proposed ordinance changes, budget matters, and community recognitions.
The regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 3, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Goldsboro City Hall. Residents are encouraged to attend and participate during the public comment period.
Among the evening’s highlights will be presentations from the city’s Travel and Tourism Board, Historic District Commission, and ABC Board. The council will also recognize the service and sacrifice of military members through a Purple Heart Proclamation and celebrate the U.S. Coast Guard Birthday with a special proclamation.
Three public hearings are scheduled, including:
- A rezoning request from Gitto Enterprises for property on Crawford Street between Elm Street and Olivia Lane.
- A special use permit request for a proposed crematorium at 1409 W. Grantham Street.
- Proposed amendments to the City’s Unified Development Ordinance affecting regulations for bars, nightclubs, pool halls, microbreweries, and related definitions.
Following the public hearings, residents will have an opportunity to address the council during the public comment period before council members consider items on the consent agenda.
Consent agenda items include adoption of substantial amendments to the 2020 Community Development Block Grant-Coronavirus (CDBG-CV) Annual Action Plan, approval of the FY 2026-27 Annual Action Plan, meeting minutes, and an operating budget amendment.
Under old business, council members are expected to continue discussions on proposed amendments to the city’s Noise Ordinance and Animal Ordinance, two issues that have generated community interest in recent months.
New business includes discussion of the proposed 2027 Goldsboro City Council meeting calendar and appointments to various advisory boards and commissions. The meeting will conclude with reports from the city manager, comments from the mayor and council members, and, if necessary, a closed session.
