GOLDSBORO, N.C. — More than two decades after the homicide of 20-year-old Latasha T. Sutton, the Goldsboro Police Department’s Cold Case Unit is renewing its call for the public’s help in bringing the case to a resolution.
According to investigators, Sutton was found dead inside her apartment at Jefferson Court Apartments on North Jefferson Avenue on Aug. 26, 2003. Authorities determined she died from a single gunshot wound.
At the time of the homicide, Sutton’s 15-month-old child was inside the apartment but was not injured.
Despite the passage of more than 20 years, investigators believe someone may still have information that could help solve the case.
The Goldsboro Police Department emphasized that even seemingly minor details — information that may have appeared insignificant at the time — could prove to be the missing piece needed to move the investigation forward.
As part of its ongoing efforts, the department is encouraging anyone with information related to unsolved violent crimes, missing persons, or unidentified human remains to come forward. Investigators say every tip is reviewed and could help provide long-awaited answers for victims’ families.
Anyone with information regarding the homicide of Latasha T. Sutton is urged to contact Investigator R.R. Gardner with the Goldsboro Police Department at 919-580-4216.
Police say that no matter how much time has passed, they remain committed to seeking justice for victims and their loved ones.
