This week’s WGBR Pet of the Week powered by Jackson & Sons, features a handsome and lovable canine named Ben who is searching for a family to call his own. Ben is a large, gray-and-white male dog who is just over a year old, making him the perfect age for a family looking for a young companion with plenty of life and love ahead of him. At 1 year, 1 month, and 28 days old, Ben has likely outgrown the puppy stage but still has the playful energy and curiosity that make young dogs such wonderful companions.
Ben arrived at Wayne County Animal Services on March 9, 2026, and has been patiently waiting for someone to give him a second chance at a happy life. While his housetraining status is unknown, staff members say many shelter pets quickly adapt to their new homes with patience, consistency, and love.
With his striking gray-and-white coat and large stature, Ben is sure to turn heads, but it’s his potential to become a loyal friend and family member that truly makes him special. Whether it’s going for walks, playing in the yard, or simply relaxing by your side, Ben is ready to share life’s adventures with a caring owner.
Adopting a shelter pet not only changes the life of the animal, but also opens up space for another pet in need. Wayne County Animal Services encourages residents looking to add a furry companion to their family to consider meeting Ben and the many other adoptable animals currently awaiting homes.
For more information about Ben or the adoption process, contact Wayne County Animal Services or visit the shelter during regular business hours.
Ben may be waiting at the shelter today, but with a little luck, he could soon be heading home with his new family.
