WAYNE COUNTY, NC – The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division partnered with numerous law enforcement agencies from across eastern North Carolina to conduct a Multi-Agency High Visibility Saturation Event on May 27, 2026, targeting impaired driving and other traffic-related violations throughout northern Wayne County and within the Goldsboro city limits.
The operation brought together 49 law enforcement officers with a shared mission of removing impaired and dangerous drivers from local roadways while enhancing public safety throughout the county.
Participating agencies included the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office DWI Task Force, Violent Prevention Response Team (ViPR), Detective Division, School Resource Officer Division, Patrol Division, and Detention Center. Additional support came from the Goldsboro Police Department, Mount Olive Police Department, Pikeville Police Department, Fremont Police Department, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, and sheriff’s offices from Onslow, Pender, and Lenoir counties.
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Forensic Tests for Alcohol BAT Mobile was also deployed during the operation to assist with impaired driving investigations.
During the enforcement effort, officers made nine DWI-related arrests and issued a total of 152 charges. Other enforcement results included 31 speeding violations, 29 additional traffic offenses, 22 registration violations, 18 charges for driving while license revoked, 14 restraint-related offenses, and 12 no operator’s license violations.
Officers also cited nine drivers for no insurance, charged two individuals with reckless driving, and made two misdemeanor drug arrests along with two other misdemeanor violations.
In addition to traffic enforcement, authorities apprehended two wanted persons and recovered five firearms during the operation. Officers also issued 31 warnings.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said the event demonstrates the importance of collaborative law enforcement efforts and highlights a continued commitment to reducing impaired driving and enhancing roadway safety throughout Wayne County.
Officials encourage residents to drive responsibly, obey traffic laws, and never operate a vehicle while impaired.
